NORWALK, CT — An 18-year veteran of the Norwalk Fire Department has been suspended and transferred to a different station house after he made anti-Semitic comments to a Jewish firefighter, writes The Norwalk Hour.

Lt. Patrick St. Onge has been suspended without pay for a week and has been transferred out of the New Canaan Avenue fire station, where he worked, to one on Westport Avenue beginning next week.

He made the remarks, in which he referred to Jewish people as being "dirty," to the firefighter earlier this month.

St. Onge reportedly later apologized to the firefighter, but did not address it to other members of the station house who heard it. The offended firefighter logged a complaint about it, which led to the discipline against St. Onge.
