Norwalk Girls Lacrosse Beats Joel Barlow, 16-11 [Video]
The Bears, who trailed at halftime, overpowered the Falcons in the second half and took the win decisively.
Christine Mace picked up where she left off on Friday against Stamford.
Mace scored six goals Saturday, lifting the Norwalk girls' lacrosse teamn to a 16-11 victory over Barlow in a non-conference game in Norwalk.
On Friday, the junior tallied the winning goal with 22 seconds remaining to give the surging Bears a dramatic 9-8 victory over the Black Knights.
After losing their first four games this season, the Bears (4-5) have won four of their last five to improve their state tournament hopes. Norwalk did have a difficult early schedule, opening with FIAC powers Wilton, Staples and Fairfield Ludlowe.
Mace received plenty of help against Barlow, as Parthenya Taiyanides contributed four goals and Emma Vita added three. Kelly McGonigle, Sarah Krysiuk and Emily Ruddy each scored once for Norwalk.
Lexi Churchill (four goals) and Claire McLaughlin (three) paced Barlow. Olivia Sennett scored twice and River Kynoch once for the Falcons.
After starting 5-0, Barlow has dropped consecutive games to FCIAC opponents. On Tuesday, the Falcons fell to Ridgefield, 15-10.
Norwalk will look to reach .500 on Monday at St.Joseph (4 p.m.) while Barlow hopes to snap its two-game slide on Monday at Weston (5:30 p.m).
