Norwalk Historical Society Receives $12,000 Operating Support Grant

Connecticut Humanities has awarded the Norwalk Historical Society $12,100 from the CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant.

NORWALK, CT — Connecticut Humanities has awarded the Norwalk Historical Society $12,100 from the CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant.

According to a news release, the Norwalk Historical Society is among 624 state-wide nonprofit arts, humanities and cultural organizations to receive this grant, a total of $16 million. The grants are part of a $30.7M allocation through CTH by the CT General Assembly and approved by Gov. Ned Lamont.

The grant funds will be used to support education and programming for the Norwalk Historical Society’s new permanent exhibition, “Norwalk’s Changing Communities 13,000 BC to 1835," which is located in the old town meetinghouse at Mill Hill Historic Park, according to the historical society.

Support has been provided to the Norwalk Historical Society awarded by CT Humanities, with funding provided by the Connecticut State Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD)/Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) through the Connecticut State Legislature, according to the historical society.

"I am thrilled we were able to support the important work of the Norwalk Historical Society," Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff said in a news release. "This state grant will help tell the story of Norwalk’s rich history. We are a stronger society when we know and learn from our past. Thank you to the Norwalk Historical Society for their continued dedication to our community."

Diane Jellerette, executive director of the Norwalk Historical Society, said the society was very grateful to receive the grant.

"The Board of Directors and I," Jellerette said in a news release, "thank the Connecticut Humanities and CT DECD/Connecticut Office of the Arts, and the state legislature, for their support."
