Norwalk To Hold Can, Bottle Return Event This Month

The program allows residents to recycle their collected cans and bottles and receive cash, according to the city.

NORWALK, CT — The city will hold its next can and bottle return event later this month in Norwalk.

According to the city's Facebook page, this month's event, the second in a series of three events, will be held April 20 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the parking lot across from the Norwalk Boat Ramp at Veterans Memorial Park, located at 42 Seaview Avenue.

The program, in partnership with EyeRecycle, allows residents to recycle their collected cans and bottles and receive cash, according to the city.

Anyone who plans on attending is asked to be aware of the following guidelines, according to the city:

  • Cans and plastic bottles must all be brought in separate clear bags and counted prior to the event. Otherwise, participants will be required to purchase 50 cent redemption bags provided by EyeRecycle, and sort through all bottles at the event.
  • Please bring your glass bottles in boxes.

The following cans and bottles can not be deposited at this event, according to the city:

  • Large juice containers.
  • Independent craft company cans or bottles.
  • Any vodka infused beverages (High Noon, Surfsides, Cut Water, Neutral, etc.).

Each redeemable bottle or can is worth 10 cents.

There is no limit on the number of containers brought in, as long as they do not overflow in redeemable bags, according to the city.

The city also noted this is a free service with no fees, and users instantly receive payment after recycling.
