Norwalk To Hold Sept. 11 Remembrance Ceremony

NORWALK, CT — The city will once again come together this week to remember the 21st anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Mayor Harry Rilling invites the public to join Congressman Jim Himes, state and local leaders and the Norwalk police and fire departments for a remembrance ceremony Friday morning.

The event will be held at 9 a.m. on the Eric Malmquist Track Field next to City Hall, according to a news release provided by the city.

During the ceremony, the city will honor all Sept. 11 victims through prayers and musical performances.

The names of the 14 Norwalk residents who died in the 2001 attacks will be read aloud: Paul Dario Curioli, Ronald Gilligan, Edwin John Graf III, William C. Hunt, Thomas E. Hynes, Adam J. Lewis, Edward Francis "Teddy" Maloney III, Cesar A. Murillo, Robert Walter Noonan, James Matthew Patrick, George E. Spencer III, Derek James Stakevicus, Bradley H. Vadas and John Bentley Works.

The ceremony will also include:

• The posting of colors by the Norwalk Police Department Honor Guard.
• National Anthem performed by Norwalk Police Det. Kristina Lapak.
• Invocation and closing prayer led by Rev. Tamara Moreland of the First Congressional Church in Norwalk.
• Norwalk Fire Department and Common Council Members present "Norwalk Remembers our Own."
• "The Prayer" sung by Norwalk Police Det. Kristina Lapak. and accompanied by David Harris, organist at St Thomas Aquinas in Fairfield.
• "You'll Never Walk Alone" sung by Jonathan Peters, choir director of Word Alive Church in Norwalk.
