The Town of Darien Parks &amp; Recreation Department will host its annual Fireworks Spectacular on Friday, July 10, at Darien High School. There is a rain date of July 11.
The event will feature face painting, courtyard games, food trucks, a performance by the Darien Community Band and a synchronized fireworks display. Food vendors are scheduled to include Supreme Poutine, Antonio's Pizza, Mister Softee, Fryborg and Kona Ice.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnic dinners. Face painting by Alicia and novelty glow items from Parade of Novelties will also be available.
Vehicle access to the event will be available only through the Noroton Avenue entrance. Gates to this entrance only will open at 6:30 p.m. and close promptly at 9 p.m. Fireworks are expected to begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Resident parking passes cost $30 per vehicle, with a limit of one pass per household. <a href="https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/darienparksandrec/activity/search/detail/8224?onlineSiteId=0&amp;from_original_cui=true" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Passes go on sale June 15 at 10 a.m.</a> and will be available through July 7 or until sold out. Passes can also be purchased in person through the Darien Parks &amp; Recreation Department.&nbsp;
Parking passes will need to be picked up in person at the Parks &amp; Recreation Department at Town Hall starting on June 22 and must be picked up by July 7.
Walk-ins to the fireworks are welcome, and nonresidents may attend for free, though on-site parking will not be available.

From 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the <a href="https://dragoons.info/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">2nd Continental Light Dragoons</a>, aka “Sheldon’s Horse,” will set up a Revolutionary War Flying Camp
with equipment demonstrations, children’s drills, and living history. Visitors can also take self-guided tours of 3 historic buildings - includes Little Red Schoolhouse, Town House, and the Governor Fitch Law Office - which survived the burning of Norwalk, explore the “Battle &amp; Burning of Norwalk” exhibition, Colonial Herb garden, and visit Norwalk’s third-oldest cemetery. This portion of the day is free, and no tickets are required.
At 2:00 PM, <a href="https://www.judithkalaora.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">History at Play</a> presents “A Revolution of Her Own! Deborah Sampson,” an immersive living history performance. Indentured as a servant by age five, Deborah Sampson grew up with few opportunities and few rights. Under the alias “Robert Shurtlieff,” she enlisted in the Continental Army, experienced active combat, and became the first woman to be honorably discharged from the American military. On Monday, July 13, 2026 Humanists and Freethinkers of Fairfield County (HFFC) will feature Connecticut Poet Laureate Antoinette Brim-Bell in conversation about the power of poetry. &nbsp;Poets capture the soul of society, preserving what the historical record alone cannot. &nbsp;Poetry can curate voices and histories often underrepresented, thereby challenging our understanding of our common histories, enriching our understanding of the complexities of race, culture, and identity, and evoking empathy. Ultimately, poetry is both a literary exploration of an era and a conversation with its historical foundation.

Antoinette Brim-Bell (Antoinette Brim) has been Connecticut’s 8th State Poet Laureate since 2023. &nbsp;She is the author of three full-length poetry collections, most recently These Women You Gave Me, which was the inspiration for the ballet In Her Image (performed on the Alvin Ailey stage). &nbsp;Her poetry has appeared broadly, including in Poetry Magazine and Poem-a-Day. She was nominated for the Pushcart Prize in both poetry and essay. &nbsp;A sought-after voice, she is a Professor of English at CT State Community College, Capital, in Hartford.

Enjoy a summer evening exploring The Glass House at your own pace! During your&nbsp;self-guided visit&nbsp;to the campus, you will have free access to the&nbsp;Glass House, Brick House, Painting Gallery, and Sculpture Gallery.
On view this year in the Painting Gallery&nbsp;is&nbsp;Tomashi Jackson and Robert Rauschenberg: The Catch One. Featuring newly commissioned paintings by Jackson in dialogue with works by Rauschenberg from the historic site’s permanent collection and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the exhibition contributes to a global slate of 2025–26 initiatives that reexamine Rauschenberg’s legacy, honoring his expansive creativity, spirit of curiosity, and commitment to change.
In the Sculpture Gallery,&nbsp;encounter&nbsp;the large-scale works by artists including John Chamberlain, Bruce Nauman, and Frank Stella that were collected by Philip Johnson and David Whitney.
Our expert educators will be available across the site to provide information and answer questions.
