Norwalk Hospital Nurse Receives Childhood Immunization Honor

She will be named a CDC Childhood Immunization Champion this week.

NORWALK, CT - From Norwalk Public Health Department: Connecticut’s CDC Childhood Immunization Champion is right here in Norwalk! Mayor Rilling and officials from the City of Norwalk, Norwalk Health Department, the CT Department of Public Health, and Western Connecticut Health Network will gather for a celebratory lunch on Wednesday to honor Heidi Steller, MSN, RN, Clinical Educator and Perinatal Safety Nurse, for her outstanding work at Norwalk Hospital educating and promoting vaccinations to protect newborns from the dangers of whooping cough and hepatitis B.

The CDC Childhood Immunization Champion Award, given jointly by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Association of Immunization Managers, honors individuals who are doing an exemplary job or going above and beyond to promote childhood immunizations in their communities. The Norwalk Health Department and CT Department of Public Health Immunization Program are delighted to honor Ms. Steller for all her hard work.
