Norwalk To Host Annual Open House, Touch-A-Truck Community Event
The city's annual free event will take place in early October and feature hands-on activities, giveaways and demonstrations for all ages.
NORWALK, CT — The city will host its annual free open house and touch-a-truck event Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Public Works Center and Norwalk Fire Department Training Tower on South Smith Street.
The Norwalk fire, police and public works departments, as well as the Norwalk Hospital EMS, will be present during the event to share information and resources, according to a news release provided by the city.
The event will feature be hands-on activities, giveaways and demonstrations for all ages. Children and adults will learn how city departments prepare and respond to all types of events to keep residents safe and will have the opportunity to explore different vehicles and meet responders and staff, according to the city.

In support of the Open Door Food Pantry in South Norwalk, all visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, especially peanut butter, jelly, tuna, macaroni & cheese, pasta sauce, soup and kid-friendly snacks.
In past years, this event has collected about 800 pounds of food for neighbors in need, according to the city.

The event will be held rain or shine. Light packaged refreshments will be provided.
