Norwalk K-9 Unit to be Honored at Fenway

The unit won two awards this year after they tracked down two violent robbery suspects in a wooded area.

Members of the Norwalk Police Department K-9 unit were awarded for their efforts during the apprehension of robbery suspects.

Sgt. Garrett Kruger, Officer David Peterson and Officer Richard Montanez were awarded the 2014 Daniel Wasson Memorial 1st Runner Up Award for outstanding K-9 achievement.

On July 8 the officers and K-9 partners quickly tracked down and apprehended two violent robbery suspects. The robbery occurred on Belden Avenue and the officers tracked the suspects through a wooded are adjacent to the Route 7 connector.

The team is also being honored by the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association as a Hero K-9 Unit. They will be honored at a Boston Red Sox ceremony on July 27 at Fenway Park.
