Norwalk Leaders' New Year's Resolutions For 2023
Patch asked various leaders in town what their new year's resolution is for Norwalk, or their department, in 2023. Here's what they said.

NORWALK, CT — Despite its ups and downs, 2022 has officially come to an end and we are already more than a week into 2023.
As with any new year, many residents likely found themselves making a list of resolutions for when the clock struck midnight on Jan. 1.
In light of this, Patch reached out to various leaders throughout the city and asked what their new year's resolution was for Norwalk, or their department, in 2023. Here is what they had to say:

Mayor Harry Rilling
"I believe climate change is one of our biggest threats and in 2023, I want to ensure Norwalk continues to be on the cutting edge of environmental sustainability. We plan to continue prioritizing increasing sidewalks, bike lanes and bike parking to encourage more environmentally friendly modes of transportation and help reduce our carbon footprint. We also plan to develop our environmental community resiliency plan to reduce the risks of sea level rising and increase our green infrastructure, recycling and food composting programs.

"In 2023, we plan to make smart investments in economic growth by continuing to support our local business community. Small businesses are the foundation of our community and contribute to the vibrancy of what makes Norwalk so authentic. In November, we launched the Norwalk Business Development Center, designed to be a continuous resource for entrepreneurs and business owners throughout the life cycle of their businesses. The Norwalk Business Development Center connects business owners with grant and loan programs and offers a series of educational training resources related to business retention, expansion, and growth. In 2023, we plan to support our local business community with these new resources."

"My New Year's resolution for the Norwalk Board of Education is for us to provide support and guidance for Superintendent Dr. Alexandra Estrella and ensure that our efforts lead to successful outcomes for our students, teachers, staff and families."

"Our resolution at the chamber is to further connect, promote, inform and advocate for the business and nonprofit community of Norwalk. And with that, it is our overall goal and mission to make Norwalk a great place to do business, to work, to live and to visit."

"Besides good health, wealth and happiness amongst all the residents of Norwalk….I would like us to break ground on a Major League Baseball stadium. I can dream, can't I?!"
