Norwalk Man Charged With Evading Responsibility: Westport PD
Police said a Norwalk man is accused of rear-ending a vehicle in Westport and fleeing the scene.

WESTPORT, CT — Police said a Norwalk man has been charged in a Westport hit and run accident that occurred in July. According to a news release, police said officers were dispatched to Saugatuck Avenue near the Interstate 95 entrance ramp on July 12 at approximately 5 p.m. for a report of a hit and run accident.
Police said the victim stated her vehicle was rear-ended by a blue pickup truck, which then fled the scene as she exited her vehicle to check for damage. (To sign up for Norwalk breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Police said the victim was able to provide the registration plate of the suspect vehicle. According to police, the investigating officer identified the suspect as Robert Lawrence, 60, of Norwalk and submitted an arrest warrant application, which was later approved.

On Wednesday, an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Saugatuck Avenue.
"The officer identified the operator as Robert Lawrence and learned he had two outstanding arrest warrants; one out of Westport and another from Norwalk," Lieutenant Jillian Cabana said in a release.

Police said the accused was charged with Following Too Closely and Evading Responsibility Resulting in Property Damage/Injury.
