Norwalk Man Found Dead Inside Car On Route 7: State Police

Connecticut State Police, who found the man near exit 2 shortly before 3:20 a.m. Saturday, called the man's death a homicide.

NORWALK, CT — A man is dead after police said they found his body inside a car on Route 7 in Norwalk.

Connecticut State Police said troopers were called to Route 7 northbound near exit 2 shortly before 3:20 a.m. Saturday. According to authorities, troopers were responding to a report of a single-car accident.

When troopers arrived, they found a man dead in the driver's seat of a car. Investigators are investigating the death as a homicide.

The victim was identified as John Gavilanes, 35, of Norwalk. State police did not specify how Gavilanes died.

According to authorities, Route 7 northbound to exit 2 as well as the Interstate 95 on-ramps to Route 7 are closed as troopers investigate.

Authorities said the incident appeared to be isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
