Norwalk Man Pleads Guilty To Tax Fraud Offense

He withdrew funds from a firm and used the money for personal expenses.

NORWALK, CT — Norwalk man Eddie Chan, 57, of Norwalk pleaded guilty to a tax fraud offense. Chan was employed as a bookkeeper for a private art firm in New York City and between 2013 and 2015 he withdrew funds from the firm's business accounts for personal expenses, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office.

Chan didn't declare $271,166 in misappropriated funds on his income tax returns, which resulted in a loss of $78,214 to the Internal Revenue Service.

Chang faces up to three years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000. He has agreed to pay the IRS all outstanding taxes, interest and penalties.
