Norwalk Man Sentenced To Prison For Tax Evasion: U.S. Attorney

Court officials said a Norwalk man has been sentenced to prison on charges of tax evasion.

NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk man was sentenced Monday to six months in prison on charges of tax evasion, according to United States Attorney John H. Durham. His sentence will be followed by two years of supervised release, and the suspect has also been ordered to pay a $50,000 fine.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Ryan S. Rozycki, 41, of Norwalk allegedly reported more than $1.6 million in gross receipts on his federal income tax returns, but failed to report more than $1.1 million in taxable income, which he had deposited into his personal bank accounts for the 2009 through 2014 tax years.

Officials said the suspect owns and operates bangthebook.com, a sports gaming information website, as well as other website businesses and rental properties. He had worked with an accountant to prepare his tax returns, but did not provide his accountant with any information regarding his personal accounts and the business receipts that had been deposited into them, officials said.

The suspect pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion on Sept. 20, 2017, officials said. He is released on a $100,000 bond and is asked to report to prison on April 30, officials said.
