Norwalk May Amend Dated Sunday Alcohol Sales Ordinance: Report

The largely unknown city ordinance concerns what hours alcohol can be served in clubs, hotels and restaurants on Sunday's.

NORWALK, CT — This month, the Norwalk Common Council’s Ordinance Committee has begun discussing whether to amend a dated city ordinance that is rarely enforced, the Norwalk Hour reported.

According to the Hour, the 1957 ordinance does not allow alcohol to be served at a club, hotel or restaurant in the city before noon or after 9 p.m. on Sunday. Though it is not enforced, some city officials expressed concern that businesses thinking of opening in Norwalk might read the ordinance and decide not to.
