Norwalk Museum To Offer Free Admission As Part Of 'Museum Day'

For one day in September, the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk will offer free admission as part of a "Museum Day" event.

NORWALK, CT — The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum will open its doors free of charge to ticket holders as part of Smithsonian magazine's 18th annual "Museum Day" event Sept. 17 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

According to a news release, the event is part of an initiative in which participating museums across the United States open their doors to anyone who downloads a branded ticket without charging admission.

The annual event allows museums, zoos and cultural centers from all 50 states to emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C.-based facilities, which offer free admission every day. This year’s event is sponsored by The Quaker Oats Company and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, according to the museum.
