Norwalk Native Suspended by NFL

Norwalk native Silas Redd has been suspended.

Norwalk native and Washington Redskins player Silas Redd has been suspended four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

“Silas Redd of the Washington Redskins has been suspended without pay or the team’s next four games for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse,” the NFL said in a statement. “Redd, who is currently on the reserve/injured list, will begin serving his suspension immediately.

Redd is a second-year running back, but hasn’t played this season due to a torn ACL, according to Bleacher Report.

His suspension will prevent him from being paid by the team for the four games.

Redd was a former running back at King Low Heywood Thomas in Stamford, according to the Norwalk Hour. He went on to play at Penn State University. He played his last two seasons of college ball at USC following the Sandusky scandal.
