Norwalk Parking Authority To Study Parking Needs
The parking study will involve a comprehensive inventory of Norwalk's current public and private parking stock.

From Norwalk Parking Authority: To plan for the future of parking in Norwalk to better meet customer needs and support economic development, the Norwalk Parking Authority, along with representatives from the Mayor’s Office, the Redevelopment Agency and Planning and Zoning commissioned an in-depth parking capacity study and strategic parking plan and have engaged Walker Parking Consultants to perform the study and plan. The study kicks off on September 12th with an anticipated completion in the fall of 2018.
The parking study will involve a comprehensive inventory of Norwalk’s current public and private parking stock, as well as analysis of future parking needs, including a recommendation on the potential need for capital investment in additional lots or garage parking. The goal of the study is to develop a citywide strategic parking plan that reflects a common vision for Norwalk. To this end, the Parking Authority will explore a variety of users’ perspectives including policy-makers, residents, business and property owners. The parking study and resulting plan will also be used to inform the Planning of Conservation and Development (POCD) process, 10-year plan for the city of Norwalk.
“It is clear from the feedback of local businesses and residents that to accommodate increasing demand for parking in the future, the city needs an overall parking capacity plan,” says Norwalk Parking Authority Chairman Dick Brescia. “The Parking Authority is committed to providing quality parking to all of the stakeholders in our community, and welcomes all voices in this planning process in order to make Norwalk a great place to live, work and visit – starting with parking.”
