Norwalk PD Releases Video of Dramatic River Rescue

Police released body camera footage of the rescue.

NORWALK, CT- Police released body camera footage that shows police and fire personnel rescuing a person after a vehicle fell into the Norwalk River over the weekend.

The video obtained by the Norwalk Hour shows a concerted effort of emergency crews working to extract a person for a vehicle that was turned over and in the water.

The vehicle had left the roadway at the intersection of Wall Street and Main Street, crashing through the fence above the Norwalk River and ending up on it's roof in the water, police said.

Both police and firefighters entered the freezing water and removed the sole occupant, who was trapped in the vehicle, police said.

The occupant was transported to the Norwalk Hospital by Norwalk EMS with serious injuries. The accident remains under investigation, police said.
