Norwalk Police Again Warn Residents To Lock Their Vehicles

In a video post on Twitter, the department shows just what can happen when a vehicle's doors are left unlocked.

NORWALK, CT — Thieves are continuing to prey on unlocked vehicles in Norwalk, prompting the police department to issue another warning to residents to keep their vehicles locked.

In a video post on the department's Twitter page, a thief easily enters an unlocked vehicle parked in an undisclosed driveway in the city Tuesday night.

"The footage shows attempted car breaks last night," Norwalk police officials wrote. "You can see suspects pulling on car doors to see which are open. Protect yourself, your neighbors and your community by locking your doors!"

Norwalk is not the only Fairfield County community grappling with vehicle break-ins and thefts. Darien has been plagued with the problem over the past few years, and so has New Canaan.

In Norwalk, no one area of the city has been hit more than any other, adding that "an engaged community is a safe community" in fighting against vehicle burglaries and thefts.
