Norwalk Police Announce June Officers Of The Month

Three police officers have been named officers of the month for June by the Norwalk Police Department.

NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Police Department has named three officers of the month for June following their life-saving efforts during an incident last month.

The Board of Police Commissioners recognized officers Hector Delgado, Richard Holmes and Matthew Nyquist for having earned the award during their meeting Monday.

In a Facebook post, police said the three officers responded to a report of a man down on June 27. The officers soon found two civilians attending to a man they had pulled from the road and began performing life-saving CPR on.

According to police, the officers took over CPR, provided oxygen, used a defibrillator and administered Narcan to the man, who had no pulse and was not breathing.

"With their teamwork and proficiency in medical response, the officers kept the man alive," police said on Facebook.

Paramedics arrived in the area and brought the man to a hospital, where he became responsive after several more doses of Narcan and survived.

"Congratulations officers on your award," police said on Facebook. "Thank you for your excellent police work."
