Norwalk Police Detective Retires After 24 Years Of Service

NORWALK, CT — Police Detective Kristina LaPak officially retired Sunday after proudly and faithfully serving the Norwalk Police Department for 24 years.

In a Facebook post, police said LaPak was sworn in as a member of the Norwalk Police Department in February 1999.

Throughout her career, LaPak served in the department's Patrol Division, Detective Bureau and Special Victims Unit. She was promoted to detective in June 2011.

LaPak received a number of the department's service awards, a Meritorious Commendation and a Unit Citation. She was also recognized as Officer of the Month after her diligent investigation led to the apprehension of a suspect trafficking children.

LaPak volunteered at the department's Police Memorial Service by singing the National Anthem and "God Bless America," and was recognized for her singing performances throughout the region with a plaque of appreciation in 2014, according to the department.

LaPak performed at the State Capitol for the House of Representatives in 2002, Carnegie Hall in New York City and Harbor Yard in Bridgeport. She also participated in the city's annual Memorial Day Parade and was part of the Honor Guard.

Throughout her career, LaPak received a number of complimentary letters from the citizens of Norwalk and outside organizations for her professionalism, investigative work, compassion and dedication, according to the department.

"We are very sad to see Kristina leave but we are very grateful for her loyal service which helped to make our department and the city of Norwalk a better place for us all," police said on Facebook. "Please join us in wishing Kristina the best in her retirement."
