NORWALK, CT — The city's police department, in association with the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office, will launch the "2016 Distracted Driving High Visibility Enforcement Campaign" on Wednesday, Aug. 3, according to officials.
The initiative is designed to crack down on motorists who text, talk or "otherwise distract themselves from the task of driving" by using a hand-held mobile phone or device.
Norwalk police will conduct the enforcement effort through Aug. 16, according to officials, and it marks the second time this year that the department has participated in the campaign.
