Police: 50-Proof Baby Bottle Found in Norwalk Baby's Crib, Dad Charged with Manslaughter

The baby was found to have an elevated alcohol content in his system, police said.

Norwalk Police arrested a man in connection with the death of his infant son in May of 2014.

Jorge Chiclana, 22 of Bridgeport was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter and risk of injury to a minor.

Norwalk Police were summoned to 261 Ely Ave. Apartment 2F on May 16 2014 after receiving a report of a baby not breathing. Officers quickly got to the scene and first responders attempted life resuscitation.

The baby boy was transported to Norwalk Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A final report from the Medical Examiner’s Office revealed that the baby had an elevated alcohol content in his system, police said.

Police discovered a baby bottle that was strong enough to be a 50-proof cocktail, according to NBC Connecticut. The baby was also placed face down in the crib.

Chiclana was apprehended at the Honeyspot Motor Inn in Stratford. on May 18.
