Norwalk Police Name 2 Officers Of The Month For Life-Saving Actions
Police said two Norwalk officers were named Officers of the Month for saving the life of an injured construction worker.
NORWALK, CT — This week, police named Brett Deri and William Lowe III as Officers of the Month for May 2024 for life-saving actions on April 18 in Norwalk.
In a Facebook post, police said Deri and Lowe were working an extra duty assignment on Rocky Point Road when an employee of the company they were working for informed them a worker was having a medical emergency.
Lowe alerted combined dispatch and got his medical bag while Deri ran toward the worker in need of assistance, police said.

The worker was found unconscious in a sewer and hoisted out. He did not have a pulse and was turning purple, so both officers performed CPR and provided oxygen through a non-rebreather mask, according to police.
The worker eventually regained a pulse and began to breathe on his own before losing consciousness. Both officers continued compressions and alternated between each other until firefighters arrived with an AED, according to police.

Paramedics later arrived and took over care of the worker, who eventually regained consciousness. He was then taken to a hospital and has since recovered, police said.
"We commend the officers' quick actions, rescue first aid and CPR," police said on Facebook, "as well as their coordination between the Norwalk Fire Department and Norwalk EMS in saving the life of the male."
