Norwalk Police Offer Tips For Calling 911
The department's 911 center reminds residents of the importance of providing clear and accurate information during emergency calls.
NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Police Department's 911 center reminds residents of the importance of providing clear and accurate information during emergency calls.
In a Facebook post Wednesday, the department offered the following tips for calling 911:
- Stay Calm - Try to remain as calm as possible and speak clearly.
- Know Your Location - Give the exact address or location as accurately as possible.
- Briefly Describe the Emergency - Explain what is happening (e.g. car accident, medical issues, suspicious person, fire).
- Answer All Questions - Help is already being sent as we're asking questions.
- Follow Instructions - Stay on the line, do not hang up and do as the dispatcher says.
