Norwalk Police Offer Tips To Help Residents Avoid Mail Theft

NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Police Department reminds residents mail theft is on the rise at this time of year and offers tips to help avoid this crime.

In a Facebook post, police urged residents to bring their mail inside as soon as possible on a daily basis.

If possible, police also recommend bringing outgoing mail directly to a post office, as the flag up on a resident's mailbox can be "an invitation for thieves."

Police also urge residents not to put cash, checks or anything else of value in the mail.
