Norwalk Police Officer In Need Of Kidney Transplant
Almost a year after he was shot in an accidental discharge at a shooting range, a Norwalk police officer is in need of a kidney transplant.

NORWALK, CT — Philip Roselle has been a dedicated police officer for 30 years in Norwalk, where he lives with his wife and two young sons, ages 9 and 14. His life changed forever last September after he was shot by a fellow officer in an accidental discharge at a shooting range.
According to a GoFundMe page, complications from the accident have caused his kidneys to fail. He is now on dialysis treatment three times a week.
"In order for Phil to be considered a suitable candidate for a kidney transplant, he has to be in reasonable health," Kelly Hollister, the organizer of the GoFundMe account, said on the page. "Unfortunately, over the last few months, Phil has been in the hospital’s critical care unit twice."

According to Hollister, Roselle currently has a blood clot in his lung, which doctors are trying to dissolve with medication. He is also awaiting a decision on treatment for a partial blockage in his heart, all while still carrying a bullet around inside him.
The incident has also taken a financial toll on Roselle and his family. He has been off workers compensation since May, has used his last vacation and sick days and has already received his last paycheck, Hollister said.

"Financially, to say the least, this has been devastating on Phil, his wife and family," Hollister said. "Phil’s accumulated vacation and sick leave is at the end, which means he will no longer have an income to help support his family and cover the never-ending medical bills."
Hollister said permanent nerve damage to Roselle's right hand caused by the shooting will prevent him from ever working again.
Anyone who would like to donate to the family's GoFundMe page can do so here. As of Monday afternoon, the page has raised $10,120 of a $15,000 goal in 12 days.
Anyone interested in becoming a living donor by donating their kidney or finding out more information is asked to contact Hollister via the GoFundMe account.
