Norwalk Police Recognized For Cold Case Arrests, Other Work

Four officers were recognized for work in September.

NORWALK, CT — Norwalk Police honored four officers with officer of the month awards.

Lt. James Walsh, Detective Christopher Imparato, Officer John Haggerty and Officer Taranjit Singh were recognized.

Lt. Walsh and Officer Singh were recognized for their observation and apprehension of several car thieves who were occupants of a stolen SUV. Chief Kulhawik noted that their keen observation and quick response ensured that the perpatrators did not engage in a pursuit or eluded capture. Chief Kulhawik thanked the officers for their professionalism, hard work and for being exemplary role models to fellow officers.

Officer John Haggerty was recognized for his outstanding work in handling an assault that occured on Main Avenue. Officer Haggerty quickly located the three assault suspects, one of which had sustained a life threatening injury. After handcuffing two of the suspects, Officer Haggerty applied a tournaquet to the injured individual which stopped the bleeding and allowed the individual to have a positive medical outcome. Hours later Officer Haggerty located and arrested a parole violator, who had been wanted for several months. Chief Kulhawik thanked Officer Haggerty for a job well done and for once again displaying dedication and resourcefulness during these incidents.

Detective Chris Imparato was recognized for his long term and tireless pursuit of justice regarding two cold case murder investigations. As a result, two suspects were arrestsed and charged with murder. Chief Kulhawik expressed his gratitude on behalf of the victim's families and fellow NPD colleagues. Chief Kulhawik stated " the quality of your work stands as an inspiration for your fellow officers to emulate".
