Norwalk Police Seize 4 pounds of Marijuana During Traffic Stop

Police made the discovery Thursday evening on Ely Avenue in South Norwalk.

NORWALK, CT — A 24-year-old Norwalk man was arrested on narcotics charges Thursday evening after police found four pounds of marijuana in his vehicle during a routine traffic stop.

Arrested was Arch Street resident Walter King Jr., who was charged with:

  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent To Sell
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell Near a School
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Officers pulled him over on Ely Avenue at about 7 p.m. "An odor of marijuana was immediately detected emanating from the vehicle," police wrote in a statement. "During the stop, the operator, Walter King Jr. turned over a bag containing marijuana to Officer Cowf. During a subsequent search of the vehicle and with the assistance of Police Service Dog Kai and Officer Montanez, just under four pounds of marijuana was discovered and seized."

King was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 11.
