NORWALK, CT — Norwalk police urge residents to lock their cars in light of a recent rash of car thefts and burglaries throughout Fairfield County.

In a Facebook post Monday, police said thieves have entered unlocked cars during these recent thefts in search of valuables and keys. A video of an attempted theft posted by police can be viewed here.

"Our patrol officers continue to proactively patrol neighborhoods in an effort to deter these crimes and arrest the perpetrators," the post reads.

As officers continue to investigate these incidents, police remind Norwalk residents to always lock their car doors and remove all valuables from inside.

Residents are also urged to never leave keys or fobs anywhere in their vehicle, no matter how well they think these items are hidden or even if they believe their vehicle is blocked in, police said.

Residents who notice suspicious people or cars in their neighborhood are also asked to contact police at 203-854-3000, or dial 911 in case of an emergency.
