
NORWALK, CT — Eleven of Norwalk's elementary and middle schools will close two hours early today, June 12, due to expected hot temperatures, according to district officials.
"2 Hour Early Dismissal on Monday, June 12 for the following schools: Nathan Hale, Ponus Ridge, Roton, West Rocks, Cranbury, Kendall, Naramake, Rowayton, Silvermine, Tracey, Wolfpit," wrote officials on the school system's website.
An "Air Quality Alert" has been issued by the National Weather Service for Norwalk and other Fairfield County communities for Monday, which is in effect until 10 p.m. Temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 90 degrees.

"An air quality action day means that ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards," wrote the NWS in a statement.
The school year is slated to end on Wednesday, and the middle school promotion ceremonies are still slated for tonigh, June 12.
