Any child who does not turn five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2024, but celebrates their fifth birthday before Jan. 1, 2025, may be eligible for kindergarten admission. This is contingent upon a written request from the child's parent or guardian during the registration process, according to district officials.
Upon receipt of the request, the child will be scheduled for an assessment at the Family Center. The purpose of this assessment is to gather information about the child and their family, which will assist schools in providing better support for the students, district officials said.

The district will continue to support all students according to their academic, emotional and social needs with the understanding that students are unique, regardless of age, district officials said.
Parents requesting early admittance will receive resources from the Family Center to assist them in their decision.
Kindergarten registration for the 2024-25 school year will open early next year. The process for early entrance to kindergarten beyond the 2024-25 school year will be further developed and a specific plan/procedure is forthcoming, district officials said.
The team at the NPS Family Center, located at 1 Park Street, will also be available to assist families with any questions they may have about the process, district officials said.
