NORWALK, CT — Norwalk Public Schools announced that Thursday will be a snow day for students and staff, as this winter's first major storm bares down on the region.

"Due to the unpredictability of a storm this intense, Norwalk Public Schools will close for instruction tomorrow, Thursday, December 17," district officials wrote on Facebook. "The snow day will be made up by adding an extra day to the calendar at the end of the year. Remote learning is expected to return on Friday, December 18."

The district will remain on a remote learning schedule until Jan. 4, but Christmas vacation begins next week.
