Norwalk Public Schools Names Interim Director Of Human Resources

NORWALK, CT — Norwalk Public Schools has appointed Gabrielle Parker to serve as the district's interim director of human resources.

According to a news release provided by the district, Parker will directly support the human resources staff, as well as the human resource needs of almost 2,000 employees, in her new position.

She will lead the department in implementing innovative, collaborative and productive leadership and operational support to various Board of Education departments, enhancing the recruitment and retention of a qualified and diverse workforce. She will also work to foster a collaborative relationship with all stakeholders and union representatives, according to the district.

"I am pleased that Ms. Parker is willing to step up for this interim role," Superintendent Alexandra Estrella said in a news release. "She has done a fabulous job working with our leaders in the organization, particularly our school leaders, to ensure that we have been addressing their needs and the needs of our students."

Lunda Asmani, the district's chief financial officer, will continue to have oversight of the human resources department and will work collaboratively with Parker to ensure a smooth transition.

Parker has been serving as the organizational development and employee relations specialist. In that role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the human resources team and works collaboratively with other stakeholders to help support the district, according to the district.

Before stepping into that role, Parker held an entry-level position and rose through the ranks during her tenure with Norwalk Public Schools. She previously served as a human resources administrator with the Diocese of Bridgeport and started her career in education with Hingham Public Schools in Hingham, Mass.
