Norwalk Public Schools Names New Director Of Human Resources
Norwalk Public Schools has named Gabrielle Parker as the district's new director of human resources, promoting her from an interim position.
NORWALK, CT — Norwalk Public Schools has named Gabrielle Parker as the district's new director of human resources, promoting her from an interim position she has held since February.
According to a news release provided by the district, Parker will continue to set the tone and HR systems to provide a welcoming, ethical, diverse, inclusive, supportive, engaging and high-performance workplace with an established network of trust-based, positive work relationships through the organization with stakeholders and union representatives.
"During her tenure with Norwalk Public Schools," Superintendent Alexandra Estrella said in a news release, "Parker has earned the respect and trust of her colleagues and has worked extremely hard to best support and serve all employees in the district. I have full-faith she will continue to provide a welcoming work environment for all our employees that will help them best serve and educate our students."

As HR director, Parker is responsible for delivering strategic and operational advisory excellence to administrators and employees.
She will also handle the execution of a comprehensive Human Resources strategy to support the achievement of the Norwalk Public Schools Strategic Operating Plan in order to advance the district’s mission, vision and design while continuing to develop and monitor its desired culture and talent through effective systems, policies, processes and practices, according to the district.

Before being appointed as interim director, Parker served as the district's organizational development and employee relations specialist. In that role, she oversaw the day-to-day operations of the human resources team and worked collaboratively with other stakeholders to help support the district.
Parker started with Norwalk Public Schools in an entry-level position and quickly rose through the ranks during her tenure with the district.
She previously served as an HR administrator with the Diocese of Bridgeport and started her career in education with Hingham Public Schools in Hingham, Mass., according to the district.
Parker earned her bachelor's degree in undergraduate law from Suffolk University in Boston.
