Norwalk RadioShack Expected to Close

More than 20 Connecticut RadioShack locations are expected to close after the company filed bankruptcy last week.

RadioShack has announced that it will be closing more than 1,700 stores after declaring Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this month, according to Fox Business.

The company has reached an agreement with General Wireless Inc. for it to acquire between 1,500 and 2,400 RadioShack U.S. Company-owned stores, according to a release.

Sprint will take over up to 1,750 of those stores, according to Fox Business.

In total RadioShack has about 4,000 stores in the U.S.

RadioShack is in the process of liquidating merchandise at about 2,100 different stores, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“These steps are the culmination of a thorough process intended to drive maximum value for our stakeholders,” said Joe Magnacca, RadioShack’s chief executive officer in a release.

• Hamden: 2300 Dixwell Ave.
• Orange: 90 Boston Post Rd.
• Avon: 395 West Main St.
• Naugatuck: 727 Rubber Ave.
• Cheshire: 953 S Main St.
• Trumbull: 5065 Main St.
• North Haven: 120A Universal Dr.
• Norwalk: 595 Connecticut Ave.
• Tolland: 9 Fieldstone Commons
• Norwalk: 30 Belden Ave.
• Cos Cob: 160 E Putnam Ave.
• West Hartford: 1481 New Britain Ave.
• Waterbury: 495 Union St.
• Branford: 1060 W Main St.
