Norwalk Rebounds To Defeat Ridgefield, 27-12

Derek Edwards scores two TDs for the Bears, who rebound from last week's 28-14 loss to New Canaan to improve to 5-1

The  Norwalk football team responded to its first loss of the season with a huge road victory Friday.

Quarterback Delshawn Wilson played a part in three touchdowns as the Bears defeated Ridgefield 27-12 to improve to 5-1 and stay in the CIAC Class LL state playoff picture.

Rebounding from last week's 28-14 loss to New Canaan, Norwalk also may have made some more believers as the Bears continue their stellar season under first-year coach Sean Ireland.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Ridgefield, which dropped to 4-2 and may have fallen out of contention for a state playoff berth.

Sam Gravitte's 7-yard TD and Connor Rowe's 35-yard TD strike to John Heller staked Ridgefield to a 12-7 lead early in the second period.

But Derek Edwards rumbled 56 yards to tie the contest. Wilson, who scored Norwalk's first TD on a 12-yard run in the first period, then fired a 33-yard TD pass to Edwards to give the Bears a 19-12 halfime lead.

Norwalk's defense clamped down in the second half and the Bears got an insurance score on Wilson's 17-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
