Norwalk Resident Accused Of Stealing Funds From Stamford Club: Police
Stamford police said the now-former club president stole more than $150,000 from the club over a 17-month period.
NORWALK, CT — The former president of the Holy Name Athletic Club in Stamford was arrested last week and accused of stealing money from the club, according to the Stamford Police Department.
Daria Opolski, 42, of Norwalk, surrendered to police on Oct. 3 when she was arrested by the SPD's Financial Crimes Unit and charged with first-degree larceny, police said in a news release.
An investigation found that from July 12, 2021, through Dec. 30, 2022, Opolksi misallocated $157,408 from the Holy Name Athletic Club's bank account by authorizing ACH transfers from the account to pay her personal bills, primarily her personal credit cards, police said.

Opolski was serving as the president of the club at the time, police said.
The Holy Name Athletic Club is a nonprofit social club associated with the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stamford. The club was formed in 1925, the club's website says.

Opolski was released on a court-set bond of $100,000, police noted.
