Norwalk Resident Displaced After Fire At Elderly Housing Unit: FD
An apartment was declared unfit for occupancy after a kitchen fire in Norwalk, fire officials said.
NORWALK, CT — An apartment was declared unfit for occupancy after a kitchen fire Thursday afternoon at a five-story elderly housing unit, according to fire officials.
In a news release, Deputy Chief Steve Shay said firefighters were called to an apartment in the building, located on Westport Avenue, around noon.
A resident was able to safely evacuate the apartment with no injuries, Shay said. No other injuries were reported.

The apartment suffered fire and smoke damage, and the floors below were damaged by water, Shay said.
The apartment was declared unfit for occupancy, displacing the resident, Shay said.
