Norwalk Resident Wins Country School Spelling Bee

Ninth grader Aaron Watkins correctly spelled LOQUACIOUS

NEW CANAAN, CT — From New Canaan Country School: New Canaan Country School students Aaron Watkins of Norwalk, Mason Zea of New Canaan and Daniel Marin of Easton correctly spelled LOQUACIOUS and were named tri-winners of the school’s 2018 Spelling Bee, Feb. 5

The annual event was comprised of students from the Middle (Grades 5 & 6) and Upper (Grades 7-9) School divisions and was moderated by fifth grade teacher Raphe Elkind and Upper School teacher Lauren Romeo. Twenty students were selected to participate for the final competition held in the school’s auditorium. After several rounds of elimination, 8 students remained.

5th Grade: Aiofe Flanagan of Ridgefield, Meg Lewis of Rowayton, Daniel Marin of Easton, Chandeny Rahman of Stamford

6th Grade: Maria Flores of Stamford, Elsa Franks of Stamford, Julia Sliwinska of Norwalk, Jeren Staber of Stamford

7th Grade: Parakram Karnik of New Canaan, Amelia Lancaster of Darien, Katie LeBaron of New Canaan, Mark Taubner of New Canaan

8th Grade: JB Barr of Darien, Paige Davis of New Canaan, Ellie Hanson of New Canaan, Seth Yoo of Pound Ridge, Mason Zea of New Canaan

9th Grade: Emma Herdeg of New Canaan, Brian Villalta of Stamford, Aaron Watkins of Norwalk
