Norwalk Resident Wins CT Lottery Scratch Game Prize

She's planning to share it with her son and granddaughter.

NORWALK, CT — Marie Moretti of Norwalk, a volunteer at the Norwalk Hospital Gift Shop, recently won $25,000 in the "$50,000 Riches" scratch game, CT Lottery officials announced.

She says she never picks the scratch game she is going to play, instead allowing the retailer to choose the ticket. “[The retailer] normally hands me the newest game,” she told Lottery officials.

Moretti played the ticket at home and saw that she was a $25,000 winner, and while she was excited about her winnings, she said she could only think of her son and baby granddaughter. She describes them as the “pride and joy” of her life, and was accompanied by her son when she claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters.

“I’ll give him and the baby some,” she said, adding that she may treat herself with some of the winnings. “Maybe one day I’ll go somewhere [for vacation]—maybe Arizona, back to Tombstone.” Looking at her son with a smile, Moretti said, “I’ll take you kids.”

For selling the winning ticket, Rite Aid #10388, located at 120 New Canaan Ave. in Norwalk, will receive a $250 check from the CT Lottery.
