Norwalk Scores and Standings: April 13

The Norwalk Blue Devils Norwalk Junior Soccer Association’s under-10 boys travel team kicked off its spring season with a 6-2 victory against Bethel Maroon on Sunday.

The Blue Devils came out strong, with forward Jonathan Jiminez scoring unassisted in the first minute of the game.  A second goal in the first half by forward Christian Gavrielidis also was unassisted. Goalkeeper Connor Belcastro led a strong defense, which included Jeffrey Ramirez, Marcus Blair and Brendan Duddy.

Midfielders Eduardo Vargas, Liam Willkehr, Edward Boccanfusco and Seamus Carbin, along with forward Altair Martin, kept the pressure off the defenders.

Carbin debuted as goalie in the second half, and the Blue Devils scored two in a row again, first Jiminez unassisted, then Gavrielidis with an assist by Martin. Bethel scored its first goal, followed by Norwalk’s Martin, with an assist by Duddy.

A second goal was scored by Bethel , but it was Norwalk’s Willkehr who scored the last goal of the game, unassisted.

The Blue Devils, led by coach Peter Blair, play Westport Blue in an away game this Sunday.
