The Mid-Fairfield Connecticut Stars U-14 girls hockey team blanked Honeybaked 5-0 Friday afternoon in the Tier 1 youth national championship in Rochester, Mich.
Five different players scored for Mid-Fairfield. Chatherine Crawley and Megan Wilmont tallied in the first period before Sara McNamara, Katelyn Pantera and Sasha Fritts found the back of the net in the second.

Emma Farrel and Annie DeFrino split time in goal for the Stars, who finished 2-0-1 in the National pool and advance to Saturday's quarterfinals. Fritts and McNamara are the leading scorers for the Stars with six points apiece.
Mid-Fairfield (43-6) finished second in its pool with seven points, one behind Assabet Valley. loses its final round-robin game on Friday. It will face the New Jersey Colonials in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 10:15 p.m.

The Colonials have had an interesting week as all three of their games have gone to overtime, including two that were decided in a shootout. They won their overtime game and split the two shootouts.
The Connecticut stars U-12 team concluded pool play Friday with a tough 2-1 shootout loss to Honeybaked, but also qualified for the playoffs.
Meghan Halloran scored the tying goal for Mid-Fairfield 1:11 into the third period while Caroline Silk made 13 saves.
The U-12 team finished fourth in the National pool with a 1-1-1 record for four points, one behind the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite, who were defeated by Connecticut Stars on Wednesday.
Halloran led Mid-Fairfield in pool play with two goals while Gillis Frechette recorded a pair of assists.
The squad will take on the Chicago Young Americans (3-0), the top team in the American pool, in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 8 a.m.
