1. Ederle Led Norwalk in Legion Regionals

Matt Ederle was Norwalk's top hitter in the American Legion New England Regionals, batting .400 (6-for-15) in five games. He also had a .600 slugging percentage.

Kevin Cawley also had six hits (6-for-17) and batted .353 for a team that only hit .231 in the tournament.

Patrick Donahue (1.00 ERA) and Leon Fleming (1.29) each won a game for Norwalk, which finished third in the regionals after a 9-5 loss on Sunday to Whitestown, N.Y., in the loser's bracket final.

Whitestown will take on Bedford, N.H., for the championship and a berth in the American Legion World Series.

2. Mike Garrity basketball summer camp

The Mike Garrity Elite Basketball Summer Camp at Compo Beach is set for the weeks of Aug. 15-19 and Aug. 22-26 from 2-4 p.m. each day.

The camp will be geared toward players from kindergarten through eighth grade and campers will be broken into groups based on age and skill level.

The camp stresses fundamentals. Development will come through drills, lectures and competition. Cost is $275 with a $75 discount for all players that sign up for both weeks.
