After a huge win at St. Joseph on Tuesday, the girls basketball team looks to keep pace in the crowded FCIAC playoff race on Friday when the Bears host Darien in a critical game at 5:45 p.m.
Tuesday's 50-39 victory over the Cadets left Norwalk (10-5, 8-5) in a longjam among six teams tied for sixth place in the FCIAC standings. The group also includes Darien, Westhill, Stamford, Staples and Westhill.

Staples hosts Westhill, so that list will be pared to no more than four teams following Friday's action. Fairfield Warde has a tough game at Trinity Catholic, which holds the No. 5 spot, and Stamford takes on New Canaan.
Norwalk has been led by the tandem of Emma Oyomba, who scored 30 points in a 69-54 win over New Canaan on last Friday, and Erica Cohens, who had 22 in the victory at St. Joseph.

Darien (9-6, 8-5) is coming off a pair of easy wins, including Tuesday's 50-34 triumph over McMahon, but Friday begins a difficult four-game stretch for the Blue Wave, who also will face Wilton, Stamford and Fairfield Warde over the next two weeks.
On the boys side, Norwalk visits Darien in a 7 p.m. start. The Bears (8-6, 6-6) almost upset top-ranked and undefeated St. Joseph on Wednesday before falling short, 50-45.
Darien (2-12, 11-1) dropped a 51-36 decision to McMahon on Tuesday.
