Norwalk Boys Fall To Bassick, 79-73

Jerond Rogers scored a career-high 26 points Tuesday as Bassick posted a 79-73 victory over the boys basketball team.

The Lions rallied from a 34-22 halftime deficit to snap a two-game losing streak and improve to 6-2. Bassick outscored Norwalk 30-19 in the third quarter to pull within 53-52 entering the final period.

Russell Jones added 16 points for the Lions and Devin Coleman chipped in with 13 for the winners.

Norwalk now has dropped two in a row and slipped to 5-3 under first-year coach Tom Keyes.

Ra'Von Shular scored 18 points and Rasheen Thompson added 17 to pace the Bears. Shular also made 4 3-pointers.

After somewhat of a slow start, the Greenwich boys basketball team rolled to another victory routing McMahon 72-53 at home on Tuesday.

Greg Donlic scored 23 points for the Cardinals, who won their fifth straight game to improve to 7-1. After winning just four games last season, Greenwich is now only one victory away from clinching a berth in the state tournament.

McMahon, which was coming off its first win of the season, battled the Cardinals to 13-13 tie after the first quarter. But the Cardinals took command with a 16-0 spurt in the second quarter that staked them to a 39-25 lead at the half.

Alejandro Rodriguez added 14 points for Greenwich, which included four 3-pointers.

C.J. Byrd added 13 points for Greenwich, giving the Cardinals three double-figure scorers.

Darkym Stroud and Kyle Jordan each had 12 points for the Senators, who dropped to 1-7.

Freshman guard Kayla Croswell hit a layup with three seconds remaining in overtime to give the McMahon girls basketball team a 40-38 overtime victory over Greenwich.

The Senators snapped a six-game losing streak, improving to 3-7.

Caroline Barrett scored 10 points to lead Greenwich, which suffered its ninth consecutive loss and dropped to 1-9.

Rebecca Kural added eight points for the Cardinals, who tied the game at 38-38 on a pair of free throws by Rebecca DeCarlo with 30 seconds left in overtime.

Kyle Courtney scored nine points and Kayla Croswell added for McMahon. The contest was tied 34-34 entering the extra period.
