Norwalk's Brett Adams Taken in Lacrosse College Draft

Norwalk's Brett Adams, a senior at , was taken by the Chesapeake Bayhawks in the seventh round of the 2012 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft.
A midfielder, Adams is a two-time All-ECAC First Team selection and begins his senior campaign as Fairfield's active point's leader, with 62. He became only the second player in school history to earn Preseason All-America accolades when he was tabbed as an Honorable Mention prior to the 2010 campaign.

Adams has scored 43 career goals in his 37 games as a Stag, with 24 starting assignments. He has also picked up 68 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers during his time at Fairfield.
Being drafted to the MLL is definitely something I've been thinking about since I started playing lacrosse,” said Adams, who was chosen with the 53rd overall pick. "I'm extremely excited to play at the next level of competition.

"I've received a lot of support from my family, coaches, teammates, and friends and I can't thank them enough. Playing with the Bayhawks will be a great experience for me, but right now I'm focused on accomplishing our goals for the 2012 season at Fairfield.”
Adams' teammate Charlie Cipriano of Williston Park, N.Y., was taken by Denver with the 54th pick. It marked the first time the Stags had two players picked in the same draft in program history.
Fairfield opens its season Feb. 18 against Stony Brook.

After cooling off Greenwich on Tuesday, the Norwalk boys basketball team looks to keep things rolling on Thursday when the Bears play at Wilton (7 p.m.).
Norwalk snapped Greenwich's six-game winning streak with a 45-36 victory on Tuesday. It was the second straight victory for the Bears, who improved to 7-3.
Wilton enters the contest at 3-7 following a 60-45 loss to Stamford on Tuesday.
The Norwalk girls (8-3) will put their eight-game winning streak on the line when they host Wilton (7-3) at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
The Bears routed Greenwich 50-33 on Tuesday while Wilton posted a 49-40 victory over Stamford.
Norwalk has had a favorable schedule, but Thursday's contest begins a dificult stretch for the Bears as their next three games are Trumbull, New Canaan and St. Joseph.
Norwalk clinched a berth in the state tournament with the win over Greenwich and Wilton can do the same by beating the Bears.
