Having dropped to .500 in the FCIAC standings after two straight losses, the boys basketball team looks to take out some frustrations Friday when they host New Canaan (7 p.m.).

After suffering a 67-62 overtime loss to Wilton, the Bears dropped a 66-58 decision to Trumbull on Tuesday.

With the two defeats, Norwalk (7-5, 5-5) has slipped to 500 in the FCIAC standings and could be in jeopardy of missing the league playoffs.

However, they will look to get back on track against the Rams, who are winless in FCIAC play and whose only win this season came against Stamford Academy.

New Canaan (1-10, 0-9) is coming off an 86-43 drubbing at the hands of Trinity Catholic on Jan. 20.

The Norwalk girls basketball team also has lost two in a row after reeling off eight straight wins. Tuesday's 50-37 setback to defending FCIAC champion Trumbull dropped the Bears out of an FCIAC playoff spot.

Norwalk visits New Canaan on Friday (5:45 p.m.) in a critical battle of teams currently on the outside looking in at postseason berths.

However, the Bears (8-5, 6-5) and Rams (8-5, 6-5) are just one-half game behind eighth-place Trinity Catholic in the standings.

New Canaan has been off since suffering a 54-47 defeat to Trinity Catholic on Jan. 20.

The McMahon boys (1-11), who are close to being eliminated from the state tournament, have a rugged assignment on tap as they visit Trinity Catholic (9-3), which handed Ridgefield its first loss of the season with a 48-44 victory on Tuesday.

The McMahon girls (3-11, 3-9) host Trinity Catholic (8-6, 7-5) in a 5 p.m. start.
