--- Norwalk's Rowayton Pizza  was supposed to play Ridgefield's Lions Club for the District One all towns tournament of champions title on Sunday, but it had to forfeit the game because the team only had eight players in uniform for the scheduled 5 p.m. start in Stamford.

Three members of its team were playing in a Cal Ripken tournament in Bethel that ran late. Officials had no choice but to award the Lions Club a forfeit victory. The teams did play a scrimmage which Ridgefield ended up winning, 4-3.

--- Considering there are more than 6,000 Little Leagues through the United States, the odds of any one reaching the promised land in Williamsport are astronomical.

But as Fairfield American showed last year, it is not impossible for a team from Connecticut to get there. The boys from Fairfield became the 17th squad from the state to reach the Little League World Series.
